A half day tour of Liverpool with lots of photostops and which includes outside the Beatles Childhood homes, St Peter's Church in Woolton Village where John and Paul met for the first time in 1957 and where there is Eleanor Rigby's grave and of course Penny Lane & Strawberry Fields and with lots of music played on the coach is a great tour. The city centre is rich in Beatles inspired locations, John's birhplace, the World's fifth largest cathedral and lots more.
However, there are many ways in which we can extend a tour for example the Wirrral which is only a 10 minute drive from Liverpool City Centre has very many locations and plaques and other memorabilia and is a great addition to a Beatles themed day out. For example Port Sunlight on the Wirral was the place where Ringo Star made his debut with the Beatles at Hulme Hall on 18 August !962. This was shortly after Brian Epstein had been appointed as the Beatles Manager and the first job he was given by John, Paul & George was to sack the original drummer, Pete Best.
Pete Best and his mother Mona Best were key to the meteroric rise of the Beatles as without Mona Best opening a "Coffee Club" venue in North Liverpool in 1959, the Beatles might never have continued as John Lennon who had lost his mother in 1958 in a road accident had stopped playing music with Paul and George and it was George who arranged for them to get back together for the opening of Mona Best's Casbah coffee club. The Casbah is a great stop on any Beatles tour and we often include it on extended tours in Liverpool with a visit to the graves of the Bass Player from the Hamburg days, Stuart Sutcliffe and Brian Epstein.
Liverpool is only 2 hours by train from London and many of our UKinbound Foreign Inbound Travel groups and other Travel Tour Operators book our Beatles tours of Liverpool and we then arrange for guided Beatles and other tours in London. Equally we have lots of groups staying in London who book our Liverpool Tours and either take the short train journey to Liverpool City Centre or fly direct to Liverpool or Manchester Airports where then arrange trasport and their tours for them.
No Beatles tour is too ambitious for us and we have previously arranged a 50 year anniverary invasion tour for a celebrity group led by Glenn A Baker who visited London, Hamburg and of course Liverpool. We have also participated in Radio interviews in Australia and on BBC radio and worked with the media.
We would love to hear from you to help you plan a perfect itinerary or for you just to book a fun Liverpool Tourist Guide.
