This is a brilliant 5-hour Beatles Walking tour to showcase the city centre in the footsteps of the Fab4 & to take a public bus ride to the suburbs to see Penny lane & Strawberry Field’s. This magical mystery tour has something for everyone! it's great fun & a perfect shore excursion from one of the many Cruise Ship calls to Liverpool. Check out our Trip advisor reviews for this tour!
The tour starts close to the Cruise Terminal with a fabulous photo opportunity of the brand new larger than life statues of the Beatles in front of Liverpool’s Liver Buildings. Where else in the world can you take a photo with such amazing icons! Here there are also Hollywood film locations for example Florence Foster Jenkins which was filmed in Liverpool with Hugh Grant & Meryl Streep, it is much cheaper to film in Liverpool than London or New York and you will see lots more filming locations such as Harry Potter and Sherlock later in the tour.
Next its the Museum of Liverpool which from May 2018 includes the new "Double Fantasy" John Lennon & Yoko Ono exhibitiion.
The tour continues through the World Heritage Site passing the Billy Fury Statue & the Town Hall where the Beatles had their homecoming banquet and were made Freemen of the City in 1964. Pass the former site of the Iron Door Club and you’ll learn all about Paul McCartney and John Lennon being introduced for the first time when you see the Eleanor Rigby Statue and the new Cilla Black statue outside the Cavern Club where the Beatles played 292 times and where you can buy refreshments and souvenirs.
You’ll then be guided through the amazing new £1billiion retail and leisure area called Liverpool One which has been transformed since European Capital of Culture 2008, you’ll see pubs and clubs including a visit to the Jacaranda where you can actually play Beatles vinyl on your coffee table and buy refreshments. Next you will see the Schools and Colleges the Beatles attended as well as the World’s fifth largest Cathedral where Paul McCartney failed his audition for the choir!
After passing Brian Epstein's apartment you will take a very short public double decker bus on the very same route that George Harrison’s father himself drove the boys to Penny Lane for photos at the Penny Lane Barbers and John Lennon's first childhood home 9 Newcastle Road all hopefully under fabulous Blue Suburban Skies!. You will catch the same bus route that John Lennon took to see Strawberry Field Gates & take selfies outside John Lennon's childhood home called Mendips.
The tour will finish at the fabulous Albert Docks where there are lots of shops and restaurants for you to buy your own lunch and souvenirs and where you can spend the rest of your day at leisure. The Albert Docks are a very short walk back to the Cruise Terminal and you will be back at your ship at least 60 minutes before "All aboard". This is a magnificent Beatles experience and we only receive 5 star Trip Advisor reviews for this product something we are extremely proud of.
This is a public walking tour which also uses a public double decker bus which is great fun. There is a slight incline up to the schools and the cathedral and for those wishing to visit the Cavern Club there are around 30 steps to the underground venue. Please wear appopriate cothing and shoes as it is a walking tour. On the busiest cruise ship days we split the groups in to small numbers so it is a very personal experience and we often use a motor coach for the extended parts of the tour.
The tour is also suitable for groups as a walking tour or as a tour on their own coach or we can arrange transport for you.
Starting LocationNew Beatles Statues, Canada Boulevard, Liverpool Waterfront, L3 1DP
£45 per person, £75 for two adults, accompanied children under 10 are free. (price excludes the travel ticket which is £5.00 and we buy from the bus driver). On cruise ship days we use a private motor-coach.
We can tailor this public walking tour for a private group or the travel trade at a negotiated group rate. Tours can also be combined to create an exciting and bespoke holiday using a quality hotel in Liverpool City Centre with excursions out to explore a wider part of North West England and North Wales.
